I am in genuine shock at the reaction of dyed-in-the-wool pussy hat-wearers on my Facebook feed. Shocked. They aren't merely ambivalent about this. They are mad as hell. At the woman.

Now, I did not like Aziz Ansari on Parks and Rec, at least the first couple seasons. (All I watched.) His character was a creepy horndog on there. The character is described on Wikipedia as: "Tom studies the culture of pickup artistsand engages in a practice he calls "peacocking", which involves finding a visual element that makes him stand out in public like a peacock. In one such date, he wears a woman's orange hat, which others find ridiculous."

If he hadn't followed up with the brilliant Master of None, I and probably many others would probably immediately dismiss Aziz based on this report. Sure, no actor is his character, but Master of None is as much about Aziz's own experiences as any actor's character has ever been. That changed my perception of him.

While he probably did overstep his bounds on this date, I would bet some of the she said part is exaggerated, just as some of his defense is. The guy is a comedian. That's his nature. If he's guiding her hand toward his dick and she pulls back and he does it again and she pulls back, maybe he tries to play it off as some joke and keeps pushing her hand there and laughing and treating it as a flirtation and maybe she is laughing, not because she is enjoying it but because she is nervous, so he treats it all as a a big funny ha-ha because that's his nature and how he keeps from being embarrassed.

Opinion | Babe’s Aziz Ansari piece was a gift to anyone who wants to derail #MeToo

It is about a date that went badly, one that did not live up to the expectations of the woman involved.

    She's right.

I suspect that Grace did not expect to have her hand grabbed and moved toward Ansari's dick five to seven times after pulling it away.

I also suspect she did not expect to have him try to pressure her into sex seconds after telling him it would have to wait until a second date.

I also suspect she did not expect to be stalked around the room.

I also suspect she did not expect to turn around after telling him she wanted to relax for a while and see him motioning to give him head.

I would agree that the date did not live up to expectations.

I didn't expect Grace could say all those things anonymously to an untrained reporter whose only verification was an ambiguous at best text message.

In 2002, a Chicago comedy duo, Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, landed their big break: a chance to perform at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. When Louis C.K. invited them to hang out in his hotel room for a nightcap after their late-night show, they did not think twice. The bars were closed and they wanted to celebrate. He was a comedian they admired. The women would be together. His intentions seemed collegial.

As soon as they sat down in his room, still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats, Louis C.K. asked if he could take out his penis, the women said.

They thought it was a joke and laughed it off. “And then he really did it,” Ms. Goodman said in an interview with The New York Times. “He proceeded to take all of his clothes off, and get completely naked, and started masturbating.”

"Way too many" (which, literally, could be any value greater than 0%) now means "culture" ... add another word to the list -- which now includes "apologist," "defender" and "violence" -- of those that no longer have any meaning.

JMO, it’s fake respect from the men and women view the equality with greater uneasiness than ever before. Now that men and women are supposed to be master generalists in every relationship, roles don’t form. It’s like teams with five shooting guards on the floor at once.

I think the talk is just that. It’s BS. I think this current generation is good at using language that sounds like a lot and means very little once you dig into it. And I think one particular generation likes the idea of seeming enlightened on millennials in a way that isn’t helpful.

    That part is stupid.

    This part isn't:

What's disturbing about the Ansari story is that he knows precisely what lines not to cross to avoid doing anything illegal, and how to walk right up to them, and how to cover for himself if it's received badly.
