Just the opposite for me. If I'm listening to the radio broadcast from the team, it's usually because I'm a fan and want the emotional experience.

Plus I love crazy, confusing playcalls. There's a million of some major play-by-play guy excitedly and crispedly calling the final play of some big event. But you only get a few Stanford band plays or Patrick Kane's 2010 Cup-winner where everyone's trying to keep talking but isn't precisely sure what happened.

Interesting. But not sure it makes sense to me.

You are a fan, and you are listening to the radio? Not watching it on TV? I don't think you are doing both, because the TV and radio aren't synched up, and it takes a lot of effort to synch up.

I assume the radio is for people driving in their car, or multitasking by working in their garage, or cutting the lawn. Since they only have the radio and no visual, I assume they want a words' eye view, and not a bunch of yahoos yelling over the action.

But then again, I assume a lot of stuff.

And I watch a lot of NFL network stuff, where they have the radio call laced over the video highlights. The color guy screaming happens a lot. I guess people like it.

If I'm a Vikings fan and it's the last play of the game and they need a touchdown to win and I hear excited screaming, I can piece together what probably happened.

Well, they needed a long completion to the sideline to set up a winning field goal. They got a bonus.

BTW, I have to admit when I saw Diggs put his hand down to stay upright, I started yelling at the TV, "Get out of bounds!"

It took a second to register that he could, in fact, take it to the end zone.

Diggs made a fantastic play, from beginning to end.

I cannot imagine how Patriots radio guy Scott Zolak would have handled it. Worst in the business. I would rather listen to John and Suzyn call a game than have to listen to Zo all the time.

The hell of it is, in his talk show host role, Zolak does convey useful football information along with the usual tomfoolery of that genre. But he so tightly associates himself with the team in his mind he loses it completely during games.

So it appears Sean Payton was mocking Viking fans with about :25 seconds left.

If true, really dude? You’re the HC. Looks like you’re gonna win the game. You don’t need to do that.

I hope he wasn’t, but the ‘Skol’ chant photos would seem to be hard to walk back.

Brees on the other hand handled it like a pro from what I saw. What would people say if a player was doing what Payton did?

Edit: Here's a link to the Strib story

Saints coach taunted fans with a 'Skol clap' just before Vikings won

And for the record, I'm far from a fanboi. I just think it was stupid.
