Will you be pissed if this was a catfish?

I don’t know what you mean. Grace exists.

Do you think he "followed her around the room to stick his fingers down her throat for 30 minutes?"

Was he trying to murder her and chose to watch Seinfeld and chill instead? I don't understand what "stick his fingers down my throat" is supposed to mean, metaphorically, so I can only assume he wanted to yank her fillings out and sell them for cash.

If nothing else, the Katie Way email reminded me of how much of a lightweight Ashleigh Banfield is.

Maybe I used the wrong term. What if it was a setup? Grace is only as real as Katie Way made her out to be.

Katie has been very quiet Twitter-wise. Nothing (at least nothing public) in 24 hours.

    Standing tall. Courage.

Agreed. And this is where an experienced editor/mentor would have been very helpful. She displayed good raw instincts, but unspooling someone’s experience is like a Russian nesting doll. Every question leads to more questions.

It’s possible she’s lying about everything, yes. A lot of things are possible.

Back to my original point on this thread, about the murky gray area of what's rude and what's assault: I think Ansari wanted little more than to fuck her, that after she was, um, blowing him and he was going down on her, he probably thought that meant she was up for having sex. As he was kissing her, he probably nudged her hand to his dick once, perhaps even twice (as one does, to clear up an confusion??? who knows), but probably not "between five and seven times" and he definitely did not stick his fingers down her throat for 30 minutes (before deciding against murdering her, because he concluded yanking out her teeth would be too difficult and dental records would ID her?) so he decided to watch Seinfeld with her and then called her an Uber. Then he sent her a text the next day implying he'd like to hang out again but, wow, she obviously saw that as a different experience.

So where do we land? We can probably all agree he did not stick his fingers down her throat, because that's insane. He probably did want his dick touched, and he probably did say dumb porno-like things like "Hey, do you want me to fuck you in front of this mirror?" because that's what boys and girls who are raised on porn sometimes think will be a turn on.

So did he commit a crime? We should believe women, I agree. So maybe he wanted his dick touched between "five and seven times" and didn't pick up on nonverbal cues. But here we have Babe.net presenting this one incident as a #MeToo without examining if this is a pattern of behavior for Ansari, or perhaps just a confusing night between a guy and a girl who had each others genitals in each other's mouths at some point, and one thought it was going to advance further and the other was like "I need a second date, buddy." Oh and she's anonymous, but "the bravest person" a 22-year-old reporter has ever met.

Should we charge Ansari with a crime? What if he only asked her to touch his penis three times and it felt like five to seven? Should he lose his show for not picking up on nonverbal cues? What if he did this just once? What if he does it every weekend?

If the upshot of this is that I get to be openly (small-c) skeptical about allegations of sexual assault again, I consider that a tremendously positive result.

I would rather you continue to be skeptical of meh journalism in the name of good journalism.
