It's not who's detained or not. It's demanding papers for internal travel. That's a totalitarian government move unless authorities have a search warrant.

They might have been demanding papers . . . period. The person just happened to be on a bus. If they had seen him/her in a cafe they might have stopped him/her there. We really know nothing about why the official was there (and what exactly he was asking about). But we're posting as if we do. We were taught better than that.

Police shooting unarmed people in the back is also a totalitarian government move. We did that before Trump, too.

The CBP has a lot of latitude if you’re using public (i.e. not your own car) transportation within 100 miles of a border or coastline. This lattitiude is not new under Trump.

If you don’t like the power the federal government has accumulated, you should work to undue that power, regardless of who is occupying the WH.

But also, @BTExpress appears to be correct. I don’t see them demanding papers from every passenger. Neither of the two people filming are asked for their papers.

It looks like one person is the subject of the entire operation. Unless and until more info comes out, we should refrain from broad accusations, that aren’t backed up by the evidence.

I don't like it no matter who's in power.

    Uh-huh.

I remember all of the demonstrations and protests from liberals over President Obama”s abuses of power.

And, liberals worked hard to prevent the President from accumulating additional powers.

There were plenty of liberal critics of Obama's domestic surveillance policies. Don't you remember the flap over Snowden's revelations?

President Obama also demonstrated he was willing to fight for his voters whether it was against the status quo, congress, Fox News or right-wingers.

Trump spends all season insulting the NFL. But then his administration scrambled to make sure the troops can watch today’s games during the shutdown.

    Come on.

There's bitching if they can't watch.

Now there's bitching that efforts were made so they can.

Give it a rest. This "every single thing they do is bad bad bad" is beyond the point of numbing.

Why would the troops even want to watch those Sons of Bitches play?

Yep. Refused to even negotiate with Republicans, in order to ensure his priorities were met.

President Obama insists he will not negotiate major budget issues with congressional Republicans until they vote to reopen the government and to lift the debt ceiling.

Obama: No negotiations with Republicans for now

It’s yet another example of how Trump’s tweets make him look stupid.
