    Yes. Obama won the prior shutdown.

    Ted Cruz, a very smart guy, was humiliated, and his credibility was damaged to such a degree that it hurt his chances in the 2016 primary, and it was one of the reasons that only one of his republican senate colleagues supported his primary candidacy, even when it became apparent that he was the only one who had a chance to stop Trump.

    I'm all for however DACA gets done. It's literally the American Dream.

    Regardless of any of this, the GOP is still going to get stomped in the midterms. Which shows how weak this president is.

    If Obama was the candidate against Trump, he wins in a landslide.

    The Dems nominated the one candidate in their entire party who couldn’t beat Trump.

    Martin O’Malley would have beaten Trump.

    Obama clearly won the 2013 shutdown. It may not have had much of a carryover effect, and Trump’s win may not either. But, a win is a win.
