Basically reinforced everything I ever suspected about Deadspin and its crew. Was shocked to see a novelist I enjoy and a former Grantland person also listed on there. Less shocked to see a former Vice contributor and well known sports writer.

 

If we're talking about the same former Vice contributor, the one who presented himself as God's gift on Twitter: That guy was so clearly a piece of shit I'm surprised he wasn't rung up long ago.

I have not seen the list and don't plan to and would not be shocked to see any single name on there. Being an aggressive, manipulative, handsy, leering creep has paid off in sex, attention and affection too many times without punishment for most men to think they should be anything else toward women. Women have long blamed themselves for being drawn to those personality types or shrugged off inappropriate encounters out of self-preservation, since the men who do that stuff the most also tend to have a well-developed persecution complex.

 

Why would you not want to see it?

 

I just don't plan to. I'm not out looking for it. I wouldn't shield my eyes from it, but I wouldn't know many of the names just by their byline and, well, I've lived long enough and seen enough friends/acquaintances/co-workers to know this stuff ain't all that new.
