Perhaps I misread it. Sure felt like looking down one's nose.

    It wasn't.

I thought it was a reasoned take. To wit, I wouldn't know anyone else other than Tiger was playing in this tournament by reading Twitter and watching ESPN. Didn't read a peep on the actual leader. I think that's his point. There's a place for the Tiger stuff. But you've got to cover the rest of the damn tournament, too.

The tee box on the Pebble hole is right next to a Scenic View stop on the 17-mile drive. You have the thought that you can open the trunk of your car, grab a club and a ball, and take a swing. I've had that thought ... for a couple of seconds until the wife says, "You are NOT spending our anniversary in jail."

When will Tony Finau get some deserved coverage, damn it?! The masses demand it!

Also, since I nailed his 72 yesterday you'll just have to take my word that I in my head today silently predicted 73, even on the easier course. And now 2 over to start. I just wanted him to make the cut as far as tourney scoring, but mainly just don't want any grimaces, tweaks or, as I saw in Jersey when his back first went bad 5 years ago, him literally crumbling to his knees in the middle of the fairway! If he can stay healthy, I think he can get that 80th career victory this year. Anything else, including even coming close to competing in majors, would be icing.

You're missing my point. I don't want a full Tony Finau story. I would like to know that he's leading the tournament.

Point taken. But if 78% of your audience is tuned in for Tiger, your coverage needs to reflect that, too. (Yes, even if 29% are tuned in awaiting a train wreck.) That's why I never bat an eye when the Golf Channel shows all 73 strokes live.

I watched yesterday and I don't think they shortchanged the leaders in coverage. They were first round leaders, after all.

I was at work, so I didn't see it. Have to take others' word for it. I will be watching today, though.

I didn't get to watch any of the coverage, since I was at work. My comment was based purely on how the tournament was covered on social media by the various national golf outlets.
