    I think creativity can suffer with age too, plus burn out and complacency. Not to start a #metoo fight, I think what Woody Allen has done in his later years is pretty amazing, even if not as consistent as he used to be.

    Because young people drive popular music culture and young people don't want to listen to their parents' or even older siblings' music. They want their own.

    Neil Diamond was 65 when he did 12 Songs, and that might be his best album.

    I suspect it's a combo of things. Most musicians probably aren't as focused on the music at age 50 as they are at 25. They'll burn out. They'll feel like they're just rehashing stuff they've already done.

    In some cases musicians keep putting out great work and no one notices, too.

    I can't decide if Lynne is the oldest looking 41 in that picture, or Petty is the oldest looking 37.
    Good Heavens.
    That was 29 years ago.

    I remember getting teased mercilessly in fifth grade for about a week because on the car ride to school I asked my dad to keep a Roy Orbison song on.
