21% driving accuracy and 50% GIRs and still sitting at -1 is pretty nice solid start, especially having played 3 tournaments since Oct 2015. Shows that his short game is holding up as well.

Watched some from Rd. 1 and he hit some awful short iron approaches. Got to believe he can certainly improve on those, most pros don't consistently make bogey with a 9 or less in hand.

Watched on and off today, saw him hit one beautiful and difficult flop shot chip from deep rough. Obviously, he must've putted better with those other stats to break par.

23 putts, I believe. Including a 50-footer for bird right as the TV coverage started.

  4. I follow the other events. But majors are majors. You shouldn't be No. 1 in the world - and sure can't stay No. 1 in the world, unless you are Lee Westwood - without a major.
    That's all.
I don't think No. 1 is that big of a deal, especially with the stupid wraparound season crap.
Rahm is a good player, but this is also a testament, I think, to a lack of a dominant player.

He made the cut and, as noted, was not golf-carted off. I'll take it. Would love to see like a 68 tomorrow but my expectations are as low as they can go, so as long as the not-on-a-stretcher part lasts it's all good at this point.

Shipnuck has a typically enjoyable recap of the first two rounds, including a style takedown.

Has @hondo gone looking for prettier par 3’s? I think @Chef2 could help him.

Groundhog saw its shadow. Two more days of TW.

A little early for fake groundhog news.

The par-3 thing reminds me of one of my community college professors (and this is not a rip on juco profs; the best journalism/writing professor I ever had was at my CC) corrected a student who mentioned something Teddy Roosevelt did by saying, "No, it was Theodore Roosevelt."

CBS gets Tiger for the weekend and Phil in the top 10. That'll do.

I can see Tiger having weekend rounds of 69 and 74, something like that.
