There was also a time for a few years when this board got really slow and dull, maybe around 2010-12 or so? I really thought it was on its way out, and that's probably why I started upping my posting, to keep things going. (Takes a lot of hubris, I know, to think you're going to single-handedly save a damn industry message board in an industry you're not even in anymore. But that's me. I sign my kids up for baseball and basketball because they want to play but also, I realize, because I know in the back of my mind that youth sports participation is dwindling, for example.) I like having a bit of an out-of-the-way corner of the Internet to talk about sports, entertainment, and current events. I didn't want it to die. That said, I know I overplay my hand sometimes to keep things flowing. (But not including the Gene Tenace thread. That shit is 100 percent legit. I believe in Gene Tenace, heart and soul.)

 

Oh, in reference to 8 years ago, probably just BYH. 12-to-14 years ago? Both. At least how I recall it. There were a few moments where folks seemed to be looking straight into the abyss more than a decade ago. Layoffs were some of that. It was a different place.
