Saw the Shape of Water; it proved to be an enjoyable 2 hours, but I found it a tad lacking. Richard Jenkins was superb (I'm in the minority in that I don't always find that to be the case) and Sally Hawkins was awesome, as usual. Octavia Spencer played the exact same role she always plays...and for that matter, so did Michael Shannon, who chewed up as much scenery as ever before. And therein lies the rub -- the movie could use about 3 fewer scenes of Shannon and maybe one or two showing Hawkins' back-story.

The magically perfect ambiguity of "The Shape of Water's" ending

A Stupid and Futile Gesture on Netflix about Doug Kenney is recommended for those who hold Animal House and Caddyshack in high esteem.

Just scanned the cast list, didn't even pick up on a tenth of the cameos, Mark Metcalf (Neidermeyer in Animal House) is in it. A ton of top people who are virtually unrecognizable in their roles, Matt Walsh, Domnhall Gleason, Ed Helms...Harry Crane of SterlingCooperDraper even shows up at one of the parties.

I guess the best thing that can be said of it, is that it feels like a movie Kenney would have written about himself.

    Lethal Weapon 4.

For some reason, I watched all four on Netflix over a three-week period. My god, they got worse as they went on, just terrible attempts at comedy and implausible situations. Jet Li was the only thing that made No. 4 even slightly entertaining. That dude kicks serious ass.

God, I loved those guys, the National Lampoon staff during the early 70's. Doug Kenney, Michael O Donohue, Chris Miller, P.J. O'Roarke, and the rest. We lost Kenney far too soon.

The Hurt Locker. Renner played an interesting character, but I would have liked to have just a little more homefront story on him.

I'm still surprised that won the Best Picture. It was an ok film, but it didn't break any ground on war movies or anything.

  11. It won Best Picture, because STFU!

'Honest,God-fearing, blue-blooded 'Mericans were able to tamp down liberal Hollywood and their mealy-mouthed hippie-hipster bullshit to get a movie any USA! USA! U-S-A! Flag waving patriot can get behind.

    'Murica!!!

  12. Ok, full disclosure: I have not seen Hurt Locker.
