Posting this on the outside chance that, somewhere, a bell will ring in Old Tony's head ...

Subtle, but obvious to the trained eye.

No, it’s actually offset by a relatively small number of people who are able to rig the political system and hoard wealth because Paul Ryan and friends have been bought.

Here’s the reality of the GOP’s tax scam:

The U.S. government is set to borrow nearly $1 trillion this year, an 84 percent jump from last year

Here are the exact figures: The U.S. Treasury expects to borrow $955 billion this fiscal year, according to a documents released Wednesday. It's the highest amount of borrowing in six years, and a big jump from the $519 billion the federal government borrowed last year.

Treasury mainly attributed the increase to the “fiscal outlook.” The Congressional Budget Office was more blunt. In a report this week, the CBO said tax receipts are going to be lower because of the new tax law.

Why do we keep bothering with the term "citizenship"?

As long as you're not dealing drugs or doing some other bad stuff, all you need to be is a permanent legal resident (aka holder of a green card). A visa is typically the first step in that path. They're not intended to be "extended" indefinitely (although there are a couple that allow this). Their purpose is to allow you into the country so you can attend to the business at hand --- which is either your temporary reason for being here, or going through the steps to achieve permanent status.

My wife has zero interest in ever becoming a citizen. But we have carefully filled out every form, arranged every interview, paid every fee to make sure that all steps (visa, 2-year conditional resident, 10-year permanent resident, renewal of permanent resident) have been taken care of. One misstep could have serious consequences.

The policy is there to make an easy path, and there are lots of websites that have valuable information (including copies of every form you'll need and addresses where every form needs to be sent). But the legwork has to be done by the prospective immigrant. Did the chemistry professor drop the ball somewhere? Unlike DACA dreamers, this guy has blood relatives who can sponsor him and make his path much easier. How does one stay in this country 30 years without becoming a permanent resident, living visa to visa?

Donny Angel, how they love him
He's got something that they can't resist
But he doesn't even know that they exist

Donny Angel, how they want him
How they tingle when his tweets go by
Every time he says "Fake News" their hearts begin to fly

    They get carried away
They dream of him and them and how it's gonna be
    (Other fellas) preach hate
But they just sit and wait, they'd rather concentrate
    On Donny Angel
