Gotta love a good West Wing reference, or even a mediocre one.

I respect it by not telling them how to live their lives, but yes, I believe disrespecting women that way is foolish. The enlightened part is treating them with respect in spite of my strong disagreement with what they do.

I just skipped to the last page and have no idea what I'm involved in here.

What about women who don't shake hands with men?

Isn't that exactly what Reform Jews are doing? Aren't there many smart, honest Reform Jews spending their lifetimes ironing those questions out, too?

Yet, I have some experience with Orthodox Jews being disrespectful to them. If you are going to insist that others follow the rules exactly, isn't it hypocritical to change how you apply them for yourself?

I'm just being honest about my opinion. I would certainly never tell an Orthodox Jew, or any Jew, how to live his or her life. Sadly, I've dealt with Orthodox Jews who refuse to extend the same courtesy and respect to me and to others.

I have the same opinion, though I've seen it a lot more the other way around. I've never had a woman tell me she won't shake my hand for religious reasons.
