That was a plus for Pederson. Rather than force Foles into what they were successfully doing with Wentz, he went back to Foles' amazing 2013 season, probably watched every offensive snap and they identified every set of plays/formations/personnel groupings that worked and rehashed them assuming Foles' best chance to post huge games was going to be with that playbook.

You guys, there is zero chance the Eagles would trade Foles within the division. It's a silly hypothetical. You don't trade an asset you've built up so he can beat you twice a year.

I don't think they're trading Foles at all.

The only downside to keeping Foles for next year when he's still under contract is you'll have to withstand some very bad columnizing every time Wentz has a meh game. The people in the locker room know that Wentz is better; they saw it over a full training camp and practices and season. So keep Foles around as your back-up in case Wentz gets hurt again and after his contract is up, you either get a compensatory pick for him when he walks or you transition tag him if you think there is a real market for him and trade him.

Personally, I think Foles is a great QB IF you can pay him about what he's making now. You start paying him $20 million per and it's a mess.

Given the severity of Wentz's injury and the important part his legs play in his game, trading Foles would be a ludicrous risk.

The downside is missing out on the asset that you would get back in return.
    This is absolutely true.

What I wonder now is, how great is Wentz really and how much of the difference between him and other young, talented QBs is Pederson. It's Brady - Belicheck all over (narrow metaphor).

The 49ers lit up the scoreboard with Joe Montana and Steve Young. Does that mean neither one of them was truly that great?

I think Wentz's success is a combination of his ability and his situation, but you can say that of any outstanding quarterback. I'm not comparing him to a pair of Hall of Famers, by the way. I was just using the 49ers as an example.

    Whoa.

This puts Belichick's departure in serious play, right?
