There's a pretty active pipeline on the XC side, thanks in part to the fact it can get you a college scholarship. Youth numbers in XC are fairly strong.

Ski jumping, on the other hand ... if you're not going to make the cut for the U.S. team, there's nothing to keep you going. And even if you do make the cut for the U.S. team, you're likely to be stretched pretty thin financially. Win some World Cups or, heaven forbid, Olympic medals and I think you can do pretty well for yourself, but finishing 20th a few times every year in World Cup isn't going to get anyone rich.

I thought sports was a place for political protests?

I don't give a shit one way or another. If football players stand on their dick during the anthem, I'm still sleeping 8 hours that night.

But Pence and his mommy do have a problem with it. He left the Colts game in a butt hurt huff because they actually saw one.

So which is it for Pence and Mommy?

The biathlon is so frigging fun to watch. In fact, its the only interesting winter olympic sport to me. I love watching the shooting. When they miss a target, it is a 150 yard skiing penalty.

No, USA Luge's slider search still moves around the country all summer, and is a key part of recruitment. Erin Hamlin, the U.S. flagbearer, is a product of the program.

The USOC had a multi-step tryout for bobsled, skeleton, track cycling and rugby, in conjunction with 24-Hour Fitness. Part was televised, and seemed to include a lot of former sprinters and football players.

Which is it for liberals? They say sports are a place for protests, now whine that Pence is protesting. Which is it?

You understand the difference between not standing for the flag of our country, and not standing for NK right? And all he did was leave a Colts game. He’s not free to leave a Colts game? If someone doesn’t like him sitting, they can leave the Olympics. Is the argument here he isn’t free to leave a Colts game? Or isn’t free to sit for NK? Or both?

Seek help. You really need it. That’s the nicest possible way for me to say it.

The point isn't that Pence insulted North Korea by not standing, it's that he insulted South Korea. You know, our ally. It was mostly their team. He can ignore all the NK officials he wants, that's no harm to anyone. But this was a message any number of South Koreans will interpret as "the US government doesn't treat us as an ally. Maybe we need a new one."
