If I were a voter -- and I used to be -- I'd have to vote Michigan State 1. Anybody else wonder if there are a few voters who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Michigan State because of the other, awful stuff?

I would have gone Virginia 1, Michigan State 2, Xavier 3, based purely on body of work. Virginia's is best at this point of the season. The Nassar stuff would not have even entered my mind. I hope it didn't enter others'.

If you’re a journalist and voting in the AP poll how are you not the story? #fakenews or #fakejourno

You are. It's why I stopped voting years before I got out of the business.

Agreed all around. Your logic about best body of work is seldom the guiding force in voting, however.
"Let's see. No. 1 lost. No. 2 lost. No. 3 didn't lose. Therefore 3 becomes 1." -- That's normally the extent of the thought process in these things. For voters to suddenly adopt the reasonable thought process you referenced would be very unusual.

Definitely see your point. When I voted, I had no qualms about just ripping up the vote from the week before and starting fresh. Now, I had some contingency plans in place, especially for a late Sunday game ... i.e., if No. 3 loses they move here and everyone else moves here, etc. But by the end of Saturday, I think you have enough information to put together a pretty solid vote. It's rare that more than a ranked team or three is playing after 7 p.m. on Sunday nights.

I swear, this is one of those moments (several moments) that serves as the epitome of what it is like to be a fan of UVa sports. And fucking Chaminade.

Hell, even the time when UVa was ranked #1 in football was marred by letting a few Ga Tech nimrods set fire to the Scott Stadium astroturf the night before that loss.

Nothing, NOTHING, is ever a sure thing when it comes to UVa and championships. Except maybe the 2006 MLax team.

The baseball wins were sweet. I was constantly tense throughout those, expecting the wheels to come off. It's not fun hyperventilating waiting for the final out.

Was hoping Mincer's didn't screw the pooch. Oh well.

Texas is losing to the Central Texas Institute of Sexual Assault. Another year or two of this nonsense and the Horns will be ready to cut ties with one-time phenom/rising star Shaka Smart.

Speaking of Mincer's reminds me also of Michie Tavern. We always liked that place. Unlimited fried chicken. Quaint place. Fireplaces in the winter.

My father still complains about the time on family vacation 20 years ago when we visited Monticello, and no one but him wanted to go there (so we didn't).

We ate lunch there before we went to the game on Saturday! TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE.

We also had our rehearsal dinner there, longer ago than I like to think about.
