I think I watched the 17 year old halfpiper win gold in what may have actually been real time on NBC. I don't think I've ever watched an NBC-broadcast of an Olympic event live before.

We might as well take the republican position on rape, relax and enjoy the inevitable

Watching adult television journliasts try to interview 17-year-old snowboarders should be an Olympic event unto itself.

Yeah, she picked an eyelash and stared at it at the beginning of the NBC interview on the slope, then looked immediately to her right, her eyes 60 degrees away from the woman interviewing.

It should take someone about 5 seconds to realize that a kid like Red Gerard isn't exactly introspective. Instead, it is absolutely painful to watch him field 10 straight "So what's it feel like to win a gold medal?" questions.

Little dude just wants to talk about getting big air.

Actually, people love to brag about liking soccer.

Apparently we have a fully dedicated thread on the Journalism board where people can brag about how much they don't give a shit about the Olympics.

Most of NBC's evening coverage is live on the West Coast. They are starting it at 5 p.m. and going to like 10:30, then repeating it. The taped stuff was mostly from early morning and much was live on NBCSN.

It appears the premiere events are taking place around noon Korea time so they are primetime in the U.S.

They take a break around 8 PST to let stations in EST and CST do local news, then go back live from 8:35-11. After West Coast stations do their local news, the first prime time segment is rerun overnight.

Love it this way as a Left Coast resident. Always thought it odd we'd see preseason football live coast to coast, but not the Olympics.
