Her legacy will not outlive Trump’s. They’re forever connected.

Teenagers are so media savvy nowadays, that the Parkland kids know what will happen if they don't speak up now: that this will be forgotten in a matter of a week or so, just like other school shootings. So they're speaking up, and they're going to try — as difficult as it might be — to keep this at the forefront of the news.

And since it's probably uncouth to criticize the kids, conservatives will blame the media for talking to them — or put Rush Limbaugh on as an analyst in the next segment.

Media savvy and knowing how to deal with trauma while in the spotlight are not the same thing. As I said previously, more power to these kids. They are doing what Americans are allowed to do. But they can only take the lead for so long. They’re still kids. The adults don’t have less responsibility now, they have more.

He has done more. By just not repealing the sanctions Obama imposed on his way out the door, it means that the current sanctions are much tougher than they were during the vast majority of the Obama administration, despite Russian meddling in Syria, the annexation of Crimea, and the interference in our election, which they knew about well before imposing sanctions.

The republicans would have impeached her by now if she had won. House republicans would have held hearings everyday on emails and foundation stuff and no other business would get accomp'ished except a continuing resolution to fund the government week by week.

This ending is really defeatist, to me:

The children of Parkland are not going to solve our nation’s problem with mass shootings. They aren’t even a first step. They are traumatized victims of that problem and they are kids. They don’t belong on television. They belong with parents, educators, and mental health professionals who are more worried about them than about national gun policy or, dare we suggest, ratings.

Leave the kids alone. It’s our job to lead, not theirs. It’s our job to tell them the truth, not lie to them about a power to make change that they do not have.

His real concern seems to lie earlier in the column:

When a school shooting survivor rails against the National Rifle Association or gun laws, no thinking and feeling person will debate them.

We should look to the savvy grown-ups of the National Rifle Association for some words at this moment, not 17-year-olds. Let's see what their frequently active Twitter account has to say.

I'll be damned. Not shit, since February 14.

Their social media person must be on vacation.

By not acting, he's done more. Oh Lordy.

Yet he won't enact the sanctions that overwhelmingly passed Congress for some reason.

Nah, each teen will be preselected from the High School Republicans Club. They'll be tossing more softballs than Jennie Finch.
