Red Robin's Royal Robin burger, cheese and bacon and a fried egg is a favorite. I also love their fries. That being said, I normally eat local but I do dig RR a couple of times a year.

Famous Dave's used to be pretty decent, though I haven't been there in probably a decade. From what you've described, it sounds like they've moved to the corner-cutting method. Most chains seem to follow that model.

My brother, who had a Cracker Barrel experience similar to this, won't eat there again. Now calls it Crapper Barrel.

I think I said this one one of the dozen or so other chain restaurant threads: My daughter used to wait tables at a Cracker Barrel. My son and I went every Wednesday I was in town for the broccoli-cheddar chicken and it was always very tasty. Also very expensive because I had to tip really big. Maybe we got lucky and her Cracker Barrel was top of the line. But it was never overcrowded, never messy, never noisy and the food was always decent. Service blew but what can you do?

I had dinner at Outback the other night and it was really good. I have personal reasons for being partial to Outback over other AAA level steak joints.

Kirk Cousins is more like Backyard Burger than Burger King: A step above the other, average burger joints, but the more you come back the more expensive it gets and after a while you start to wonder if it's really worth it.

I feel I don't go to too many chain sit downs apart from Chilis, Applebees and maybe Red Robin. BJs is always really good so it probably leads the pack. Chevy's in Cali used to be really good, but it's declining.

As far as pizza, I try to go to more local places than chains unless I'm in a pinch or someplace where I don't know the good local spots. Round Table is great but expensive. After that it's Dominos, Mod Pizza and everyone else.

Fast food burger, it depends on what I'm into. Carls Jr western bacon burger is among my favorites. Wendy's asiago chicken sandwich is great. As far as best overall, it's probably Five Guys and In n Out. But a McDonald's quarter pounder with a side of ketchup to dip in is a guilty pleasure.

Chain sandwiches, Mr. Pickle is great and after that I'd go Togos. After that I'll go to different in-store delis then Subway.

Steak n' Shake. A triple steakburger and fries for four bucks is tough to beat.

McAlister’s Deli is good, but it’s not $12 good.

I've probably gotten a little too food snobby lately, I admit. We just have so many good options within a mile or so of me that there's no need to go chain. That said, I still like Outback on the road, even if the quality of the steak has gone downhill. And I strangely crave Arby's once in a blue moon. Blaze Pizza is fantastic. I've tried Pie 5 and I think Blaze is superior. Better crust.
