So, do you and @RickStain support a Convention of the States to write a new constitution?

Simply by not undoing what Obama did, he's been tougher than Obama himself!

(Please don't mention the sanctions Congress overwhelmingly passed but haven't been enacted.)

Even how the Constitution is applied would be unrecognizable to Jefferson and his ilk. The First Amendment, for example, was intended to bar prior restraint. Full stop. The establishment clause was intended to protect the states' right to favor particular religions.

The fetishization isn't hard to understand. Who wants to face up to the fact that we are the descendants of a group of people indistinguishable from Nazis other than that they won and got to write the history books? Combine that with the powerful having motivation to keep the status quo intact, and you've got a press release version of history taught in fifth grade that people are eager to parrot back.

In theory, perhaps. It would be difficult in practice because we have nearly 240 years of caselaw interpreting it.

For now, I would settle for people like you not treating it as infallible.

Yes. And the new Constitution should have a sunset clause.

What have you got against sunsets?

This gets me thinking. Of all the coaches who have been on the hot seat in the major TV revenue age (1980- ), how many have survived bad starts and calls for execution to have solid careers? Joe Gibbs is one. (Everybody remembers the Dean Smith effigy story, but that was before the got huge. )
There are several who survived, I suspect.

Check back on that one in a few years when the majority of taxpayers get increases so those who don't need the breaks can keep theirs.

We're talking the same Trump that can't separate global warming from the weather forecast. Once his mind is set one way, there's no changing it.
