    I think you could.

    And you might win under UK defamation law.

    Tough case to make in America, though. Law varies by state, and plaintiff usually has to demonstrate some combination of malice and intention.

    Maybe some of our board lawyers can weigh in.

    He's going to be a limited purpose public figure because he's done all these interviews. That means he would have to prove actual malice, which you can do one of two ways - either showing the person knew it was false or showing that they published it with reckless disregard for the truth.

    The crisis actor b.s. is so far out there, that I think he could meet the reckless disregard prong. But it's no slam dunk.

    I also think there's a legimitate question about whether calling him a crisis actor would actually harm his reputation. I think it probably does, but it's not as clear cut as falsely accusing someone of committing a crime or being incompotent in their profession.
