Broncos are my first love and I am not ashamed to admit it. Super Bowl 50 will keep me happy for a while. I haven't been a crazy, crazy fan the past few years, but I've found myself tempering my sports fandom lately anyway. Still love watching, but want to keep the emotions in check. Sometimes that ebbs and flows.

Anyway, that Tebow Steelers game was just about my favorite moment as a fan. At least in the moment. Definitely my top in-person moment. It was just so crazy. Never hugged so many strangers ever and probably won't come close in the future.

Caps are my only source of die-hard fandom. Enjoy the Orioles still, and Virginia Tech sports. But the only team I'm all-in invested in is the Caps.

Although I'm an alumnus of Florida State, I had no pre-existing ties to the university (I come from Ohio State stock). It wasn't until I left full-time journalism that I became an FSU partisan, thanks to the recent success of UF and their arrogant and obnoxious fans and alumni. As my dislike of that school -- to which I was accepted! -- grew, so did my pride in old State U.

I was there with my good friends who are Steelers fans. I was not in the Tebow camp but that was one of the wildest events I've been to.

I have a photo from a few years back where the Twins beat the Sox something like 16-3, with an hour-plus rain delay to boot. At some point, my son, my brother, and I moved down to seats right behind the visiting dugout. It's the eighth inning, 16-3 Twins, four-plus hours in, and there's the three of us, with the TV score graphic, sitting there watching until the bitter end.

We also went to Bears-Browns this year in a near-blizzard.

Like most ex-scribes, I am pretty level-headed about my various fan allegiances, but passing down the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls, probably in that order, feels like a solemn generational duty.

I'll drunkenly come here to talk shit after Georgia's football team wins the SEC, but I'm strangely absent after they get whipped around in Jordan-Hare. It is a coincidence, I swear.

For years I kept hearing, "Everybody loves the lovable Cubbies; nobody cares about the White Sox."

I swear, of the dozen or so "Chicago" fans I know about 10 are White Sox fans, maybe two Cubs fans.

The Cubs are Iowa's team. The White Sox are Chicago's team.

So your stomach is as fucked up as mine.
Still can't believe they didn't go all in on Karlsson or McDonagh

Sounds like the price on Karlsson was extremely high. Not sure the Caps had the picks, prospects and/or cap room to make it work.
