    No fucking kidding.

We all knew once the Iran deal was done, that it would lead to the Saudis acquiring nuclear weapons.

They are the Sunni counterbalance to Iran's Shia influence.

I just hope Rick Perry had time to repack his bags before heading to London.

Otherwise, he's going to look really silly wearing traditional Indian clothing during all of his London meetings.

I understand that you are talking in terms of sheer numbers of a single given weapon, but there are a couple of hundred weapons that are basically military style close quarters weapons. Some of them are rare and/or expensive, so there are not that many of them in circulation, but others like the Ruger Mini-14 are pretty common. If you restrict just the ARs and AKs, the market will identify the next most popular and inexpensive versions and buy those instead. This was a problem with the previous assault weapons ban - it made some rifles illegal while leaving weapons that were functionally identically but did not look as frightening legal. They just didn't *look* as scary.

Same thing with calibers - if you ban the .223 but leave similar guns in .308 out there, you have not accomplished much. Yes, they kick harder and are not as newbie friendly, but they are more accurate at range and arguably hit harder.

These don't look all that frightening, but the mechanism is the same as the M-14, the Army service weapon replaced by the M-16. It does not look very intimidating, but it is at heart very similar to an AR-15 in terms of function. It is typically chambered in .223, same as most ARs.

Ruger Mini-14 Custom w/ EOTECH for sale Scroll down a bit.

This is the exact same weapon with aftermarket tactical pieces. Note how much more like a scary "Assault Rifle" it looks. Last time, these got banned while the stock version and other similar weapons did not.

If you're going to restrict autoloading rifles, you can't use half measures. The gun guys know which weapons got missed that will fill the same function. If you halfass the legislation all that happens is that those get popular as a replacement.

Fun fact: There have been fewer fatalities at nuclear energy sites going back to 1955, than there were in coal mines last year alone.

"It’s the height of depravity for Trump to shrug off Russian efforts to help him win the election after basking in them on the campaign trail, then pillory Obama for not doing more to stop it all. But if that is his position—his excuse for leaving the country defenseless—then the fact that Ryan and McConnell were his witting accomplices, working to assure the Russian operation ran its course, has to be revisited, too."

Of course, the main reason the AR is being targeted is because it’s the de facto weapon of choice in these mass shootings.

If Mini-14s and 10/22s are used in multiple mass shootings, I’m sure folks will be questioning them as well.

I wasn't aware that the 9/11 hijackers were Iranian.

OK @Dick Whitman and @Inky_Wretch, what do you think of what has been proposed so far?

The bill prohibits the “sale, transfer, production, and importation” of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can hold a detachable magazine, as well as semi-automatic rifles with a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. Additionally, the legislation bans the sale, transfer, production, and importation of semi-automatic shotguns with features such as a pistol grip or detachable stock, and ammunition feeding devices that can hold more than 10 rounds.

Cicilline’s legislation names 205 specific firearms that are prohibited, including the AK-47 and AR-15.

I think that Trump truly believes that he would have stopped the shooter.

Are the 205 firearms banned by model available to read online yet?
