This would be my take. I live throughout the day and evening on Diet Coke.

I’ve never had ‘pop’ in my life and I’m 46. No desire to try one.

I quit soda cold turkey 10 years ago. Had absolutely zero withdrawal symptoms. In the early days of the process (I never planned to never drink soda again, but after a couple weeks, I realized if I had a soda, it'd be two more weeks before I got back to where I was before falling off the wagon), my wife suggested I taper off with diet soda. I said no, I drink more of that shit than I did the regular stuff. There is no doubt in my mind the chemicals make you thirstier and hungrier. That is some bad shit there.

My "guilty pleasure" is chips and salsa. Only guilty because I usually down half a jar and half a large bag of tortilla chips at a time! LOL

My "gross you out" guilty pleasure (that I haven't had in eons) is peanut butter and salami sandwiches.

My "local fave that you have no idea what it is" would be Trenary Toast with lots of butter.

I just gave up pop (sorry, upper Midwestern boy here...it's 'pop' to me) within the last few weeks, also I have cut way down on beer (usually only weekends...with weekends starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday night :) But instead of 2 to 3 a night, 7 days a week, now 1 or 2 per night, 4 days a week).
So far so good. Lots of milk and water as replacements.

It was more of a high school thing for me...but damn it was good. Hell, if I had salami right now, I would make one and video myself eating it. Damn, I'm licking my chops right now. Might be time for a grocery store run! ;)

I also cut back on my beer consumption, usually only Friday night and maybe Sunday (I work Saturdays). I rarely go out through the week and if I do I only have a couple instead of the five or six pints I used to put away at least five days a week in my heavy drinking days.

While there, can you pick up a couple OnCor chicken parm dinners for me and @QYFW?

Anyone who drinks diet soda is dumb as fuck, my doctor says.
He got my numbers fixed in four months, so I tend to believe him.
