That Tweet doesn't bother me in the least bit. There were Obama sycophants! That doesn't mean that he was not legitimately supportable, as well. She's talking about a portion of his supporters, not all of his support.

Indeed. Obama sycophants laughably excused Obama when he:
--fired the FBI director who was investigating him
--claimed he had secret recording of that FBI director
--constantly publicly shamed many key figures in his administration
--attacked John McCain for not being a war hero
--refused to release his tax returns
--created an online "university" to defraud people
--had sex with a porn star and then paid hush money
--gave his unqualified daughter and her husband key White House jobs
--equivocated in the aftermath of racist and violent attack in Charlottesville
--refused to divest of his business holdings
--hired a bunch of people for his campaign who later pleaded guilty to a variety of crimes
--refused to visit a key ally, the U.K.
--refused to acknowledge a hostile foreign adversary helped him win election
--refused to criticize the loathsome had of that foreign adversary
--thought the GDP could be a negative number
--allowed a foreign agent to become his National Security Advisor
--receives regular payments from foreign governments through his international businesses
--considered breaking up the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
--accused his predecessor of wiretapping him
--praised a cable-news anchor who was fired for serial sexual harassment, days after declaring April “National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.”
--was derelict in filling key diplomatic and other government positions
--said he would never golf, then golfed a lot, then lied about it

 

That had more than a little to do with the scrap metal market, which was just so-so. The biggest scrap buyers, China and India, weren't really participating, so scrap prices stayed low and their production was moderate.

That Tweet is a strange one to get testy about. The point was that for eight years, many who would eventually vote for Trump accused Obama supporters for being a cult of personality. She's just saying that they act the same way.

 

Right. But, the time to call people on this is when they are making the dumb argument, for campaign reasons.

But, we don't see this, because too often it is used to attack Republicans, so the ideas go unchallenged.

We've seen this with the $15 minimum wage push. Unions and activists were all for this, but when it came time to implement it, unions actually asked to be exempt from it, because they knew it would cost jobs.

 

Is it really that "out there" to say that Obama and Trump both had (or have) supporters who thought they can do no wrong? Of course they did.

The difference is that Obama's sycophants occasionally were given good reason to be starry eyed. I don't get the Trump love at all.

 

Yeah, I saw that the author of the "Axis of Evil" line tweeted that out earlier today.

I love this. Somehow, it's not playing to a "constituency of uneducated people" when the AFL-CIO, the Democratic Senator from Pennsylvania, or the Democratic Congresswoman from Ohio call for tariffs.

Why is that?
