So we are supposed to follow the EU's lead on tariffs, but not healthcare or social reform or gun safety. Got it.

Why? Isn't the purpose of a tariff to help offset the price of products generated in part by great difference in wages between a developed country and a poor one?

I don't know why I can't get this; I think I remember passing Economics in college and actually enjoyed it.

The countries that import the most steel into the US are Canada and South Korea. Third is Brazil. Brazil's not rich, but in macro terms, it's not poor. The other countries have economies as developed as ours.

Folks need to quit being whipsawed (whipsawn?) by Trump statements and wait for the actual executive order or action. We don’t really know if tariffs will target China, be across-the-board or even be implemented at all (This could just be a poorly launched trial balloon.)

The second half of your post seemed to suggest that it was helping the EU. If I misread what you were trying to say, I apologize.

I think he was showing the EU's hypocrisy (criticizing Tariff A while imposing Tariff B themselves).

China's economy is pretty developed. Still, the people who build iPhones over there get $1.50/hour working six 11-hour shifts per week.

What the hell would those things cost if they were all made here?
