Props to the Loyola Ramblers, who are in the NCAAs for the first time since 1985. It's a Chicago school with a lot of great hoops history, including an NCAA title in 1963. They also were one of the earlier colleges to play black athletes on the varsity basketball team.

Good to see them in the tourney.

    That Radford-Liberty finish was bonkers.

Love watching a daily Titanic Hoops video of a game-winning shot.

This could be one of those great moments in this forum's history (assuming they're off probation):

Is it just me? Or will the committee have trouble finding enough worthy candidates to fill out a field of 68? There was a time when some -- notably Vitale -- would claim you shouldn't be allowed in as an at-large entrant if you had a losing record in conference play. You'd have way, way too many mid-majors for CBS' liking if you made this a policy these days.
Syracuse, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas and Arizona State are all under .500 but either locks or under consideration.

    Yes!!!
I think however, if Cleveland's State makes the NCAA tournament, Long Beach State has to go on probation

We're just in a different era. The power conferences have gotten so big, play so many league games, their teams are going to take more losses. And it seems like there are fewer mid-majors, but there was a time when Wichita State, Butler, Xavier, Cincy, Houston, Creighton, TCU and a bunch more, even Virginia Tech and Louisville, could have been pushing for at large bids as mid-majors.

Good points all. More conference games for the big guys, a move demanded by ESPN, bloats overall loss totals but may benefit relative RPI.

Upset in WCC semis: BYU knocks off St. Mary's. Gaels may need lots of prayers Sunday.

That went out the window as conference schedules became unbalanced. The committee isn't "supposed" to even use conference record or affiliation as a point of reference.

I enjoyed watching Alfredrick Hughes on WGN lead the Ramblers to the tourney in '85 (if you have no idea who he is you have lived a more meaningful life than me).

UNC Greensboro is going to be a popular upset pick. Played pretty well at UVa, beat NC State and rumor has it beat UNC in one of those secret preseason scrimmages.
