So now the selection show will announce all 68 teams first, then do the bracket? I don't get that at all. It feels like it takes away from the surprise of the moment, right? Or are they trying to milk drama out of two different points: 1. Did we get in? 2. Who do we play?

Seems like an unnecessary effort to stretch the show to new lengths.

In what order? By overall seed? By region? Alphabetical?

I think teams have figured Saint Mary's out: double- or triple-team Landale and take your chances on their outside shooters. Both Gonzaga and now BYU have won via that strategy.

This is a textbook example of a solution in search of a problem.

Notre Dame is interesting. They went in the tank when their first-team preseason All-American was lost for months with a foot injury. It's pretty much a given they are a top 25 team, at least, with him. He's back. If they beat Pitt today and then Virginia Tech tomorrow, that would seem to be enough, depending, of course, on what some of the other bubble teams do.

They played several games without Matt Farrell, too, and it's not like they were that deep to begin with. I'd put them in with Bonzie and Farrell at full health.

That said, looking at past NCAA committees, they've been much more inclined to take injuries into account with regard to seeding, rather than the binary "in or out?" issue.

If they get in, then, where are they seeded? Seems like a healthy, underseeded ND could be a very dangerous team.

It sounds like it worked (I didn’t watch) but I wonder about the sustainability. St. Mary’s other starters all shoot better than 39 percent from 3. They’re ninth nationally in 3-point percentage.

Taking ones chances could get your ass kicked, though the lack of scheduling means that could well be an NIT team.

HOW DO YOU MESS UP THE NCAA TOURNAMENT? It's stupidity-proof! You just announce the brackets and collect your money and everybody is happy, Emmert. HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO DO THIS?

It's ridiculous, but it's not like this ruins the tournament. People will still fill in brackets and watch and spend millions.

Eh, if they get rid of all the videos of every team celebrating, then maybe it'll be worth it.

I liked it back when they only focused on one or two majors, a major team or two on the bubble, and a couple mid-majors and small schools, and would actually show the bubble teams' disappointed faces when they didn't get in.

Now, they're all just a blur of schools making it. Congrats, Kentucky, you've made it for the 57th time. Act like you've been there before.
