McGriff did it with some obscenely low total like 34 or 35 before he was traded to San Diego.

You are correct, sir, 36 in 1989. Nobody led the Al with fewer than 40 until Miguel Cabrera hit 37 in 2008.

Only two MLB players have hit 4 homers in a game in which their team lost. One is Ed Delahanty in 1896.

    Name the other.

I know it wasn't Mike Cameron, because I was watching and the White Sox got the shit kicked out of them.

Correct. Happened in 1986 vs. the Expos.

If I recall correctly, the game didn't even air live on TBS because of the Good Will Games.

How the hell do I not remember J.D. Martinez hitting four home runs in a game last season? Wow. That's not something that usually gets by me.

Only once in history did two players hit four home runs in a game in the same month.

Who were the players and what was the month and year?

Known famously as Leon Woo, because there was no D in his game.

It was Shawn Green and Mike Cameron in May(?) 2003. Or maybe 2002.

I remember that because I was in grad school and attending a writer's conference in Monroeville, Alabama, when I saw on TV that Green had done it.

That same weekend I got to (1) meet George Plimpton and (2) play a juror in a live production of "To Kill a Mockingbird" (they took volunteers out of the audience to play the jury, but you had to be a white male). It was a fun weekend.
