The Soccer Thread (Version 8)

It is heaven right now. FA Cup and CL late rounds, meaningful league matches, World Cup around the corner. Having a footy-mad son... We watched Liverpool yesterday, Juve v. Spurs today, Liverpool this weekend... It's fabulous.

 

For the cost of a basic cable package, in addition to call of the fantastic EPL coverage from NBCSN, you get 3-5 German games, Barca, Real Madrid and at least one other good La Liga game, 2-3 Serie A games and 2-3 Ligue 1 games.

Plus, unlike MLS, most of those games are on a time when there aren't competing sports.

 

Burnley are up 2-0 over West Ham in two minutes, and Hammers fans are running onto the pitch to confront their own players. This could get very frisky.

EDIT: They're also trying to invade the director's box. Holy shit.

 

A Hammers fan was just able to take the corner flag and plant it in the middle of the pitch in protest. This game might not actually get finished.

 

3-0 after Joe Hart spills it. They might burn down the stadium.

 

I like at the end of this they show the owner getting whisked off.

They are conducting an "investigation" aka who do we blame for this.

 

I have no idea how a fan managed to tear out the corner flag and get to the very middle of the pitch, and stand there for some time talking to players, without security or police doing a single thing to stop him. It's ridiculous.
