Never make the mistake of being a West Coast bubble program, in college basketball or college baseball. There's always an SEC, ACC or Big 12 team they'll select in your place.

Oklahoma and Alabama in the tournament is an outright joke.

I grew up in Long Beach and there most definitely was a time when people called it Fullerton State.

USC finished second and reached the Pac-12 tourney final (so also finished second).
ASU finished ninth and lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tourney (so no better than ninth).

    Seems completely reasonable to me.

Both belong ahead of Arizona State.

Be careful about claiming East Coast bias because JC will be along to give you grief.

If you like teams gagging down the stretch. Oklahoma 2-8, Alabama 2-6.

They don't deserve to be in over USC. Nor does ASU. Hurley is a complete turd but at least ASU defeated Xavier on a neutral court, and won at KU.

I went to the damn school and the only time it was called Fullerton State was in the damn AP agate list of scores from the Far West.

Cal State Fullerton. Three words. No hyphens.

It's Long Beach State, not Cal State Long Beach.

It's San Diego State, not Cal State San Diego.

It's Cal State San Bernardino, not San Bernardino State.

No one -- NO ONE -- calls it Fullerton State. Cal State Omaha, yes. But not Fullerton State.

ASU is in because they beat Kansas, SD State and Xavier, you would think their cruddy showing down the stretch might make people think "well, maybe the P12 is better than we thought?" Nah. Losing 4 of 5 to non-tourney teams?
    No tears for St. Mary's.

TV brass: "We need the ratings at least one game of Trae Young can bring." Good for TV brass. A one and done player does a one and done dance. Guaranteed. Also was the USC screwjob worse than USC not getting in over OU in the 2004 football natty?

The committee clearly decided its the whole body of work, Feb/March isn’t valued over Nov/Dec and conference standings don’t matter. That’s fine, except there is no way of knowing if that’s how it will go next year or the year after.

St. Mary’s actively avoids playing competitive non-conference games. I have no idea why.

I kind of think the Pac12 gets screwed over because they know the conference won't do anything about it. They'll talk a good game, the ADs will bitch, the Presidents will bitch, the commissioner will say he's an employee of the Presidents so it's in their court. The truth is, the fan base just isn't here, isn't rabid and will watch the NCAAs regardless. And nobody in the conference is interested in defending or fighting for USC.

St. Mary's had Dayton (In last year), New Mexico State (In), Fullerton (In) - I'm pretty sure they also played at least four schools looking for new coaches next year with Georgia, Pepperdine, San Diego, and San Jose State.
