    Sabermetrics were not part of the mainstream discussion in the way they are now, but people were aware of that deficiency in Soriano's game.

    That deal was one of many examples of the Yankees improving their team through use of their built-in financial advantage.

    Late to this thread, but a guy from my backyard, Frank Schwindel, had a good game Wednesday for the Royals, including a 470-foot HR to lead off the sixth, a double and 3 RBI. He was a college teammate of Joe Panek's.
