    Again.

Why would you make up a story that bad?

The same reason I made up a story that bad when it was time to face the music.

That's what you fucking do when you're nose-fucking-deep in cocaine.

You think you're concocting the greatest deception that everyone will believe ...

... when in reality it is the most ludicrous fucking thing anyone's ever heard.

I still don't think poorly of Johnny Skipper. But I know exactly where he's coming from. He's not fooling anyone, except maybe you.

But I also think it's part of the socratic game you like to play sometimes.

Let’s be real. The guy was an addict who had to find a source on the fly. Nothing else makes perfect sense to me.

    Because the truth is worse?

Wonder if that article will be the one that allows Skipper to sue Travis and bankrupt him.

Well nothing could be worse and more embarrassing for his wife than finding out he does coke.

Interesting Internet era libel question for those who know:
The above-linked piece says nothing to back up the charge that Skipper is "lying." It does, however, link to a previous story that cites anonymous sources within ESPN as saying Skipper made up the addiction story in order to prevent revelations of sexual harassment.
So would Skipper have a case to sue -- again, he won't do it because of discovery -- Travis for the above-linked story, which doesn't back up the charges of lies but does link to one that references anonymous sources?

    1. I would imagine quite a number of people, including the supposed victims, would have to be keeping very quiet, all in concert, to bury sexual harassment claims that were serious enough to merit John Skipper's leaving. Not impossible, given NDAs and everything else, but it seems like a big secret for a bunch of people to keep to protect him.

You think somewhere like Deadspin wouldn't have this story by now?

    2. I like how for some here, "being a coke addict" apparently wouldn't be something worthy of an apology to a spouse. If my partner were spending boat loads of money on drugs and endangering her health and my family's financial security, I'd be pretty upset about it. An apology would definitely be in order, for fucking starters.

I just read this whole thread at once and I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone is arguing about anything.

You really think he resigned only because he was going to be extorted by a coke dealer?

Don't mean to be argumentative, just that reading the interview and knowing people who work at ESPN
it seems pretty much like a crock of shit. Some people think it's believable, so that's the argument.
