It's simple. Nobody loyal to Trump would ever investigate him or consider him capable of wrongdoing. Anyone not explicitly loyal to Trump is an enemy. It's unfair to have enemies investigate him.

 

That story is dated 2012. Why would it be a big deal now?

 

Is anyone arguing that his situation was handled well? There were a million fuck ups. Doesn't change the fact that if he couldn't get his hands on an AR-15, 17 innocent people are still alive today.

 

It is not. The fact that it came and went without incident is astonishing.

 

It's true that Cruz was failed by the law enforcement, educational and mental health institutions in place around him and allowed to turn into a domestic terrorist.

It's also true that as a domestic terrorist in a country with a gun fetish and insufficient gun control, he too easily was able to get his hands on an excessively dangerous weapon.

There's no one side or the other on this. It's both.
