    Answer: No. Not really.
Closest is calendar year 2004, when the Patriots won the Super Bowl in February and UConn win the hoops title in April.

Maybe to the international spot. Think the NBA is too far for college.

Weird year for my picks ... guessed wrong on every upset except Loyola over Miami. Only had five of the Sweet 16 ... but four of them are my Final Four (Kentucky, Gonzaga, Villanova, Duke). The first two teams on that list seem to have a winnable path to San Antonio, and the last two are heavyweights. But who knows?

Love to see Loyola in the Sweet 16 — with two different kids hitting game-winning shots in the closing seconds.

Gonzaga-Florida State should be a helluva game on Thursday night.

Was about to look that up. Don't think most people really consider it the same metro area. Storrs is suburb of Hartford, Pats are in Foxboro
which is pretty much Boston, especially since they started there.

Nope. Closest was 1984, when the Redskins lost in the Super Bowl and then Georgetown won the NCAA championship.
Ravens and Maryland were a year apart in 2001-02.

They should play Kansas in football. They beat Temple a few years ago.

Yes, which sometimes makes it difficult to listen to the whining about taking more mid-majors after a first or second-round upset. Mentioned it before but it
reminded me of the World Cup in South Africa. I'm just a casual soccer fan, but know enough to say there's no need for more countries to qualify from Asia or Africa
or North America. But if Saudi Arabia manages a draw in the first round, wouldn't be surprised for someone to say that.

The thing about it is that college basketball is the only sport which has fooled people into thinking that reaching various steps along the way - the Sweet Sixteen, the Elite Eight, the Final Four - is a sort of championship unto itself.

As long as Kentucky doesn't come out of the left side of the bracket, I'm good.

It's basically a lock that right side winner will be Nova, Kansas or Duke.

Anyone up for a Loyola-Chicago, Florida State, Clemson, Purdue Final 4?

Ad execs would be jumping off rooftops.

Would a Florida State-Clemson football championship be a disaster for ad execs? :)

    Rooting for Loyola-Chicago:
