Nothing will EVER satisfy the Twitter mob.

    It’s a fucking cesspool.

Twitter is definitely not humanity at its best, that's for sure.

Of course he expected it. If he didn't, then he's even dumber than his sense of humor would indicate.
He said some he thought would be funny simply because it was outrageous.
Well, the result of that outrageousness is going to be a lot of outrage. They go hand-in-hand.

I do not believe anything is inherently out of bounds or unfunny, but if you are going to make jokes that are intentionally provocative, outrageous and offensive, the jokes better be funny.
This 'joke' didn't even have a whiff of effort or thought to it.

But that's pretty much the caliber joke it is, too. A joke you'd make with half a dozen friends whose tastes and sensibilities you mimic and know absolutely.

It's just not super funny, regardless of the spirit in which it was intended.

Broadcast it on Twitter to a global audience of randos, and you're going to get plenty of well-deserved blowback.

And the truth is, if you had said the same to your buddies at Buffalo Wild Wings loud enough for other folks to hear, you'd have gotten some stinkeyes from them, too.

Twitter isn't some debased subset of a subset of a subset - it's the public square.

Well, I'm certainly glad we don't do that here.

It might be a personal character flaw, but I tend to have a shorter leash with people like Haugh who lose their shit over throwaway lines from an unknown shock jock a time zone away. And also people who think they have a moral obligation to shame others. So he's got two strikes in my book.

Haugh is a pretty big sports talk radio presence himself, and it seems to be a long-time talk radio trope that when someone writes or says something controversial, to get them on the air and confront them about it. The column kind of reads like talk radio for the newspaper.

I do believe we have squeezed every last drop out of this topic that we possibly can.

Nah, won't be complete till Sister Jean tweet-burns the guy. And they're probably working on it as we speak.

If we can do 6,948 pages on Donald Trump, we can certainly allow Sister Jean to push past 6.

With all due respect, Sister Jean is not a 6.

You perhaps missed the boat on that show. And it’s not funny to everyone - it’s one of the most despairing, painful shows ever made - but to the extent it is, it has very little to do with the presence of juvenile penis jokes.
