Obama was 8 years old in 1969. Clinton opposed the Vietnam war. Bolton was for it - thought it was fine that others were dying in a war he didn't want to take part in because it was already lost.
Fun fact about Clinton - he initially tried to get into a Reserve unit and used some pull from Sen. Fulbright to get into an ROTC program, he later figured enlisting in an ROTC or reserve or Guard unit wouldn't be an honorable thing, (and would hamper his hoped-for political career) so he was part of the draft - received a high number and wasn't selected.

How does Obama deserve criticism on this? Our fighting in Vietnam and the draft were both over several years before he turned 18 in 1979, so it's not like he took action to avoid answering a call. Or am I forgetting something?

    And then it got weird!!!

Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is being criticized on social media after making homophobic comments while referencing the "locker room talk" war of words between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.

Twitter was quick to react, with the tweet generating close to 3,000 comments, many of them critical of the homophobic overtones and also taking digs at Clarke's record of safety at the Milwaukee County Jail during his tenure.

For the record FDR was born in 1882 so he was to young for the Spanish-American War. He was the Assistant Secretary of Navy during WWI.

Chart America's greatness on a graph, and you'll see it always miraculously peaks 10 years after Europe destroys itself.

Only that you don't have to be drafted to serve, I guess.

So not signing up - in Obama's case - for a volunteer force is equal to getting draft deferments for "bone spurs?"

Hard to believe the United States is actually being governed this way by the Chief Executive. Whoops, almost forgot – he said neo-Nazis were "very fine people".

The connection between military service and the Presidency has been skewed by our two largest wars, the Civil War and WW2. There have been other periods of American history where decades went by with Presidents with no service background, such as the period between Washington and Andrew Jackson and the almost 40 years between T. Roosevelt and Truman.

I wonder what the response would be? We have had the women's march, tomorrow the gun march. It seems like as a society, we are more likely to get out there and protest like in the 60's. He has lots of folks hating him for lots of reasons and we seem to be willing to march for those reasons.
