    And had more than a few run-ins with fans in the stands going all the way back to his days at LSU.

    He went to alcohol rehab at least once early in his career with the Indians. Wouldn't be surprised if there are some psychological issues at work as well.

    I'd go with the Yankee approach: Sign Holland and minimize the importance of the rotation while waiting for Bumgarber to get back, and set yourself up well for the stretch / postseason.

    That stinks.
    I hope that Lind is already on a plane to Toronto. I'm afraid it will be Walker / Austin. If this were the Torre days, we would have 2 months of Miguel Cairo because he can play the position.

    Good question. Maybe that just means trying to bring Lind back, as you suggested. I'm not sure how much faith they have in Austin, if any. Maybe one of the prospects comes up sooner than expected and they shift Walker to first.

    My post was meant more as a comment on my pessimistic view regarding Bird's health.
