This is where I'm at with two exceptions: I'm buying alcohol/cold medication (law forbids they be sold at self checkouts) or if I have more than 15 or so items. The latter is more because I can't stand it when I have two things and all the lanes are used by people doing a month's worth of shopping in one go. If your cart is over flowing, go find a regular lane. If you can't understand the concept of scanning a barcode and placing it in the bag area or how to pay without help, go find a cashier lane and GTFO of my way.

I like places that employ people, wait the extra couple minutes.

I try to do that, unless time won’t allow.

Do you do that with gas too?

I would if there was full serve where I live.

  7. Kroger's has the same thing ... "about 15 items."
    Close enough.

For what it is worth there is little "full service" about full service stations compared to what they were when they got that name.

We fill up in New Jersey a lot, where full service is mandated by law (politicians messing around with the market for graft and not allowing demand to actually determine this). You usually sit there and wait 10 minutes sometimes for a guy to come and pump the gas, when you could have done it immediately by yourself and been back on the road. If my windows are dirty, I get out of the car and wash them myself. If I want to check the air in my tires, I pull over to a machine, drop money in and do it myself., etc. And whatever cost that law adds onto the price of gas, not only gives me no benefit, it costs me in time usually.

All true, but the gas is still cheaper than anywhere else I go.

Not be as much as it used to be. :( They raised their gas taxes last year and it has made a big difference. But yeah, we are driving through NJ between New York and Philly a lot, so we do a lot of filling up along the way.

Is your car built by hand? I read woodblock printed books only.

A new Walmart irk: With the advent of the whole online shopping push, there are employees with big carts in the aisles filling orders in addition to customers, sometimes in those motorized carts, out-of-control kids, etc.

I think that it’s a plot to drive me out of the store and to the Internet to do my shopping.
