In general, I don't prioritize saves (probably to a bit of a detriment), but my other leagues count holds, so it's not as big of an issue there. On at least three occasions last night, I had an RP I was targeting get picked just before me and I didn't want to reach too far to get a different one when more reliable and better players were available. Unfortunately, that meant that I missed out pretty badly on closers.

As usual, though, there will be some turnover at the position, so hopefully I'm able to jump first on some of them.

I never draft more than two closers. Rather take a chance on an extra starter. Have Kimbrel-Hand and Diaz-Allen in my leagues. Almost certainly will end up shuffling through a few other guys in each league before it’s all over.

Offense in the 12-team roto I drafted in this morning. Been awhile since I played roto so where are the initial deficiencies?

    Molina
    Votto
    Merrifield
    Arenado
    DeJong
    Nunez
    Santana
    Martinez
    Upton
    Yelich
    Marte
    Acuna
    Happ

    Bench
    Hicks
    Morales

Will use Hicks until Acuna gets called up.

Small rant, but this stuff drives me nuts.

The first games are almost upon us and some teams still have players expected to miss weeks, or even months, on the disabled list. I really hate those teams right now. (I'm talking about you, Mets and Dodgers. Justin Turner isn't suddenly going to heal enough to play this week, dammit!)

This crap should have come to an end with the move to a 10-day disabled list.

I’m with you. I cannot even put Bird on the DL right now, and he’s out at least 6-8 weeks. Drives me off the wall. Luckily, I was able to put Mad Bum on the DL.

Bird is officially on the DL now. It depends on which stat service you use. Fantrax has him on the DL. I'm not sure about CBS or Yahoo.

In my league on CBS, I have Conforto, who the Mets put on the DL today. CBS hasn't caught up yet, so I can't replace him.

The Red Sox made their DL moves days ago. Makes me wonder if someone in the front office is playing fantasy.

The league I've been in for almost 20 years is going thru some changes so this year we decided to invite back all of the alumni and try something different. We can draft 1 player from each team, make zero changes during the season, and see how it all shakes out at the end. As you can imagine it's not so easy when you have teams like the Astros and Dodgers and Yankees and a few others with several elite players. We can have no more than 4 relievers either.

    C- Realmuto (Marlins)
    C- Hedges (Padres)
    1B- Hoskins (Phillies)
    2B- Schoop (Orioles)
    3B- Arrenado (Rockies)
    SS- Correa (Astros)
    MI (2B,SS)- Merrifield (Royals)
    COR (3B,1B)- Votto (Reds)
    OF- Stanton (Yankees)
    OF- Trout (Angels)
    OF- Khris Davis (A's)
    OF- Dee Gordon (Mariners)
    OF- Betts (Red Sox)
    OF- Buxton (Twins)
    OF- Harper (Nats)
    OF- Ozuna (Cardinals)
    UT (any position)- Happ (Cubs)
    UT - Acuna (Braves)
    SP- Kluber (Indians)
    SP- Syndergaard (Mets)
    SP- Kershaw (Dodgers)
    SP- Greinke (Diamondbacks)
    SP- Taillon (Pirates)
    SP- Hamels (Rangers)
    SP- Sanchez (Blue Jays)
    SP- Strickland (Giants)
    SP/RP- Soria (White Sox)
    SP/RP- Knebel (Brewers)
    SP/RP- Fulmer (Tigers)
    SP-RP- Colome (Rays)

That's a helluva strong roster. How many teams? Never heard of that format before, but it's pretty cool.

A month into the season, seems like a good time to revive this thread.

I cut loose Luis Castillo after his horrible start Friday against the Twins, but now I'm second-guessing that move because someone immediately snapped him up (and bid $6 to get him). No big deal, but I feel like maybe I was too impatient with him, which is now making me question whether it would be too impatient to bag Ian Happ.

Happ has been straight up awful, with inconsistent playing time. And, as awful as he's been, his .236 batting average has actually been aided by an unsustainable .419 BABIP. It seems likely things could actually get worse for him. That said, he showed real promise last year. Not sure if I've already been patient enough, or if I'd be making a mistake to drop him now.
