    Do we want to know what a "bone rally" is?

    Oh. Okay. Sounds tamer than I imagined for the Bronx.

    I always enjoyed watching the fights in the bleachers at the Oakland Coliseum, when they had wood benches and you could stretch out a bit. Get a good "Right Field Bleachers Suck" chant going.

    Without surfing through previous pages:

    * Baseball teams with all similar payrolls.
    * Dr. J's grace.
    * Pro wrestling before Vincent K. McMahon.
    * Joe Montana's finesse.
    * The Kansas City Kings.
    * George Brett's intensity.
    * Mizzou in the Big 12.
    * Class B, C, and D Leagues in minor league baseball.
    * Sneaking down from the nosebleed section and working your way to behind the dugout by the seventh inning.
    * Huge sports sections in the newspaper.
    * Raises!!!!!!

    Was it any less fake?

    If not, I fail to see how it could've been better.

    Much less cartoonish and predictable. Before steroids and wrestlers began dropping dead in their 40s or younger. When there were territories, and nobody cornered the market.
    Predetermined? Absolutely. Fake? No more fake than reality TV, movies or the majority of pro and college sports today.

    The outside chest protector. I would love to see this again in the worst way.
    Umpires in ties. And umpires like Ron Luciano, Russ Goetz (Rough Guess) and Nestor Chylak.
    Miller Lite Ads. Especially this one:

    The Pro Bowlers Tour on Saturdays with Chris Schenkel and Nelson Burton Jr.
    (And regionally, Candlepin Bowling on Ch. 5 out of Boston with host Don Gillis.)
    Straight-ahead kickers.
    "Murder ..." (pause) "She Wrote."
    Metropolitan Stadium starting in late November.
    Memorial Stadium, the Greer Field House and the open-air hockey arena, all at UConn. Until it was demolished in 1998, UConn was the last D-1 school to play in an open-air ice arena. I discovered the taste of blackberry brandy on those February nights watching friends play intramurals.

    Simple neck rolls, flip-down shades in baseball, headbands in hoops, tear away warm-ups in hoops, tear away jerseys in football, being able to name every manager in MLB on opening day.
