I used to watch that a lot. First time seeing it since then.

Unbelievable that a Todd Donaho could be a semi major player in the second biggest market in the country.

I checked the ticket. Aug 10, 1986. And it was one of those Ticketmaster-type tickets. But better than a piece of paper.

War Memorial Stadium, Greensboro, N.C., with my now-deceased Dad, circa the late 1970s through the mid 1980s. Watching some future Yankees stars (Otis Nixon, Don Mattingly) and some fan favorites I believed were destined for greatness (Todd Demeter, 19 HR in ‘81) but fell far short of that. But those days are long gone. Ballparks are “nicer” with far better creature comforts now, but nothing was ever more enjoyable than sitting next to Dad on a hot summer night as he chowed down on peanuts and Coke and showed me and my brother how to keep score.

One of my fond childhood memories was watching the PBA on ABC on Saturday afternoons with my mom. I was intrigued by the fifth place guy facing the fourth, the winner against the third, etc, usually to face Earl Anthony in the final.

We even saw Jim Stefanich bowl a perfect game in 1974.

Nothing could make me start to doze faster on a couch than Chris Schenkel's voice combined with the low hum of a bowling ball running across a wood floor, only to be jarred awake by an especially loud strike.
