Apparently there are groups of rec league guys on hand at NHL games if needed.

I wonder how often it happens.

    Cool story.

The one thing I haven't seen in any of the stories I've read is, how much did he make? I don't think those emergency guys get a game check, but do they get paid at all? And if they actually go in, wouldn't the NHLPA require that they get 1/82nd of the minimum salary?

He is not a tax accountant, but a fund accountant in the financial sector. Super wonky detail, but end of March is like the busiest time of the year for those guys.

    I LOVE this story.

    Wow. That's pretty funny.

I'm surprised they don't have some kind of rider in there for the guys who actually get in a game, though.

Not a CPA, as far as I can tell!

It sounds like he works on the other side, for a fund. Not a public accountant (CPA).

He blanked a 100-point team, which is the best part.

They also get to keep the jersey.

There was an equipment manager last year who was the backup goalie and the team let him play the last few seconds.

I bet his office water cooler chat was quite interesting this morning.

Some of the saves were high end.
