Stoney, in a way that play probably was the only way they had to tie it, though. With .1 they wouldn't be allowed to get a 3-pointer off. So the only real hope would be a lob, tip it in and hope that some defender is dumb enough to foul. Obviously it wasn't going to happen but I suppose it's worth the shot. (Always a chance the coach wasn't thinking this, but regardless, with .1, there was nothing else to really do).

    Edit: As Dick said.

There is no way to score three points in 0.1 seconds. I don’t even know why they put time on the clock if it’s less than 0.3.

Stoney, if that’s your gripe, you’re really grasping.

Lob the ball up there. Player jumps and tips it volleyball-style toward the hoop and prays. But here's a question: If you jump from beyond the arc, tip the ball and land inside the arc, it's only good for two, right? Would differ from situation in which you have the ball in your possession when you leave the ground behind the arc but land inside of it.

Well, I'm not sure if this is true or not (is it not possible to get off an outside shot in 0.1 seconds?), but this is a FAR more intelligent way of addressing my post. If Gee had responded this way, instead of implying prejudicial motives like a gigantic asshole, I would've replied to him entirely differently.

Mississippi State led by 15 at one point and was cruising. Notre Dame scored three points in the second quarter.

If Schaefer made an error - and this is hindsight - maybe it was keeping McCowan on the bench too long with three fouls. Notre Dame couldn’t compete with her on the floor.

In a women's game, someone is going to take off from behind the arc and get close enough for a tip-in?

    Long-distance slap-in.. As I said volleyball-style.

OK. Let me know when that happens.

It doesn't. I'm just saying it's possible under the rules.

BTW, it seems nuts to me that the women’s championship had to be played at 5 p.m. to yield, I guess, to an early April baseball game in prime time.

I saw the highlights - great game winning heave.

I saw the clock go to 0.00. I assume there was a lengthy delay to determine there was 0.1 seconds remaining (insert eyeroll thingy).

Is the game better served by microanalyzing that shit?
