The season's a week old. Let's wait and see.

The headline in the first story is
The verdict is in on Shohei Ohtani's bat and it's not good

He has three homers in a week and a half as a part time dh and his exit velocity is one of the best in the majors. What part do you want to 'wait and see' about? How is that in any way shape or form "not good"?

That is some pretty bad Photoshopping of Jim Rice's ass.

Bloom wrote that "He’s not going to be ready as either a pitcher or hitter when the season starts."

The season started and here are his stats. Do they look "not ready" to you?

He has 19 MLB plate appearances.

I am going to hold off on the HOF thread.

I feel like that whole "his swing isn't major league caliber" was a big talking point during Ichiro's first camp.

You are responding to an imaginary post.

One writer said that The verdict is in on Shohei Ohtani's bat and it's not good

Another writer said that "He’s not going to be ready as either a pitcher or hitter when the season starts."

Both of those opinions are spectacularly wrong. That's why I posted them. I didn't say anything about the HOF.

Look, it's possible that Shohei Ohtani is everything we have seen the first week and more. I hope that's the case. As a baseball fan, I desperately hope that's the case. As a parent, I hope that's the case: My 8-year-old is loving this.

But, again, the season's a week old. A little early for definitively declaring victory over the naysayers.

The season is a week old. He may end up batting .180. It's way to early to declare that headline "spectacularly wrong."
