President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

Because six years is a very long time in a nation with a collective attention span of six minutes. But mostly because a platform of cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is very unpopular and he's got nothing else.

 

I love that, if true!! I hope he did it with evil intent.

 

But wouldn't the gutting of "entitlement" programs make him the darling of Fox News? Don't assume people -- particularly republicans in SEC states -- vote with their economic self-interest. They often vote against it.

 

Stipulating that there are two "sides" here ... one side hates him because "Thou Shalt Not Make One Change to SS/Medicare" ... and the other side hates* him because "Unless Thou Is Changing Someone Else's SS/Medicare, Thou Shalt Not Make One Change to SS/Medicare"


*Well, hates is too strong a word for this side. But this side will vote for anyone who'll offer up some other plan.

 

Trump won in the Republican primaries and in the general in part by saying he'd never cut those programs. And he will never be the darling of Fox News. He's too bloodless. They will be looking for a rageaholic to replace Trump

 

I'm picturing Boehner sitting on a sunny front porch with a cup of coffee and a bong, reading the headlines about Trump and Ryan while emitting the giggles of the very stoned. Thanks, I needed that this morning.

If there isn't a TV ad here in pot-legal Massachusetts showing Boehner puffing on an enormous spliff, then making his spiel, I'm going to be very disappointed.

 

More like "With a trillion dollar a year annual deficit, Congress will be FORCED to cut Social Security and Medicare! Buwahaha!"

 

Next, he can emulate Bob Dole and become a spokesman for Viagra. "This is John Boehner, bringing you bud and boners!"

 

Uh huh ... those programs were in GREAT! shape before this tax bill got passed.
