Not as bad. No one manages the game around RBIs.

    Not sure I buy that.

Runners at 2nd and 3rd and batter doinks one over 2nd baseman's head to bring in both runners.

Runners at 2nd and 3rd and batter triples to the alley to bring in both runners. Batter is stranded at 3rd.

What's the difference between the doink and the triple when both runners scored?

It is the evidence you asked for - performance with RISP fluctuates wildly over small sample sizes.

134 and 179 are not small sample sizes.

So Tony Gwynn had a reliably skill of clutchiness one season and his clutchiness skill deserted him in another?

One shows a greater level of talent that is more likely to result in the same outcome in future PAs with the same circumstances.

How about this. Justify the RBI as a stat when it counts the same if a guy hits a triple with a runner on first base and two out or the guy hits a sac fly right at the RF with no outs?

Well, .300 is still pretty good. Isn't it still the benchmark?

Your question is the answer (vis-a-vis RBI).

Well, the triple will boost the batter's SLG and OPS, sure.

Either way, the runner still scores.

I've lost track of the point on that hypothetical.

    What was it again?
