But doesn't your hypothetical support our argument that RBIs are misleading?

Bottom line is that I still like the stat. It's not the end-all be-all to judge a player.

But it means something. Where it ranks on the totem pole of meaning, I don't care.

But I still like the stat.

You'd be surprised (I suspect). If you tossed a fair coin 179 times, you'd expect (rightfully), that you'd observe about 90 heads. But there'd be about a 5% chance that you'd observe either 76 heads (or fewer) or 102 heads (or more).

No. The batter put the ball in play, be it a triple or sac-fly, and the runner scored.

The singularity and pluralism of baseball worked hand in hand.

I think it's useful in telling the story of what happened in a season, for both player and team. Player batted .300 with 160 RBIs, that sounds like a hella good time as compared to a player who batted .300 with 47 RBIs. But that's about as far as it goes.

I don't have the mental capacity to discuss BABIP right now.

Ohtani's BABIP is .357. Suck it, 100 years of Passanian scout-gut!
