    I assume this is him, would've been 27 during that evaluation. Good season in '84.

    Not know to use “particular” (or a version thereof) twice in a sentence is why I could never break into the bigs as a writer.

    One time on the school bus some kid sitting beside me pulled my winter hat down over my face. I just talked to him like nothing had happened. Then I lifted my cap and saw the seat beside me was empty.

    oop on this thread is fifth-grade me before I lifted the cap.

    Found a baseball card of Scott Oliver on eBay from the '85 Edmonton Trappers, which also had ...

    * Devon White
    * Wally Joyner
    * Jack Howell
    * Urbano Lugo
    * Kirk McCaskill
    * Steve Rogers (who may have gone down for a rehab stint?)

    You can buy the Oliver card for $1.99 (with a $3.49 shipping fee).

    Except Dickie keeps going in the conversation. He's just doing it without responding to me directly so he can keep up with his little game. The better analogy would be if you lifted the cap and saw the kid was trying to use his jacket to hide from you.

    I think Cole was a baseball decision, or at least partly so. They were fed up with potential and tired of waiting for him. How do you think the Pirates got Nova? What did the Yankees get in return? Were they cheap?

    Maybe curveballs are like starting QBs. If you have 2 you don't have any.
