Five years ago isn't exactly ancient history.

Yanks would have been fine about giving Cano six or seven years. They didn't want to go to 10 and pay him for age 40 and 41 seasons.

If anything, they might have been scared off from going that far because they were stuck paying A-Rod.

    That doesn't seem... physically... possible.

I remember seeing Frank Thomas do that once, but his bat kind of cracked up the length of the barrel, it didn't snap off at the handle.

Who would like to suggest a back-page tabloid headline for the implosion of the Mets bullpen against the Walgreens this evening? Mets led 6-1. Walgreens about to go in front. Future Cubs CF Bryce Harper has had a huge game, including the broken-bat HR that should compel a drug test by itself.

Tonight vs. the White Sox, with the Warriors playing next door and the Sharks down the road, there may not be 10K there, per Twitter feeds of two writers covering the game.

"If you come to a dome and get banged, something ain't right,'' Royals manager Ned Yost said about an hour before the game was called.

Every reporter there stifled the urge to yell out “That's what she said,” right?
